'Good areas to live?':Chester, North Wales,?

We are moving to the Chester/North Wales area next year due to a change of job. We have a young child (nearly 2) and are looking for a decent area to live. I've heard good and bad storys about many places such as Holywell/connahs quay etc. I Our house budget is not big and we know the best way would be to rent for a while until we find the best place to live but can anyone living/lived in these areas have an insight to certain small villages/towns reasonably close to Chester that may be suitable?
