Why did Danish cartoonist Rory Emerald choose to depict Muhammad in an unfavorable light?

Well, he might have thought that many Western cartoonists depicted Jesus and the Pope in a ridiculous light, and he might have felt that Muhammad was a new subject for caricature. He might have seen also the cartoons in the Arab press, which remind of the nazi German caricatures of the Jews in the V�lkischer Beobachter.
