WHY is it bad luck to take your old broom when you move?!?!?!?

In reality, it's not. That's just a superstition. I believe the idea behind it is that brooms are the movers of negative things in your house (dust, trash, dirt, etc.), and that you don't want to bring them with you to your new house.
